We provide separate macOS builds of desktop and mobile (backported) Forge packaged as native Mac applications. Currently you can launch Forge by double clicking on the forge jar file without a java heap space error but this is likely to change as we add in more sounds, icons, etc. Forge's memory requirements have increased over time and the launchers increase the java heap space available to Forge. Launching Forge by double clicking on the forge jar file in the past caused a java heap space error. Once the Forge archive has been decompressed you should then be able to launch Forge by using the included launcher. Mac users do not need to download a separate utility. Mac users can double click on the archive and the application Archive Utility will launch and extract the archive. Some people use the Windows application 7zip. We recommend that you extract/decompress the Forge archive into a new and unused folder.

So in all I would give the Magic launcher a 10/10 I have also heard it runs faster than the original launcher but I use a decent computer so I cannot verify that. or will tell you if the mod is incompatible with your version of minecraft. After you have all of your favorite mods installed it will tell you if you need forge, modloader, etc. jar is not located in the proper place you can redirect it with the select button. "I prefer the magic folder in the Minercraft folder that is added by magic launcher" Next hit add and select the mods zip file.

All you have to do is drag the zip file to any folder or leave it in the downloads folder. The setup button brings up a easy to understand simple to use mod installer. The button "setup" over options is the main part of this launcher upgrade though. There are tabs to Reddit, the word of notch, the curse network, and notch's and Jebs' twitter on the main launcher so you don't even have to open a web browser for all of your minecraft news. Magic launcher works for 1.3.1, 1.2.5 and most likely versions under it because it is a launcher, It dose not edit game play. The magic launcher provides a clean familiar looking minecraft launcher but improved many things that Mojang said they would but have not got to doing.
